Kwahu West Municipal Assembly currently registers only customary marriages.

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING A CUSTOMARY MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FROM THE ASSEMBLY
1. Ensure that all necessary customary rites are performed prior to initiating the application process.
2. Submit a letter to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), along with an affidavit, photocopies of the applicants’ IDs, and a passport picture each for the applicants, to initiate the process.
3. Wait for the MCE’s approval to proceed with the application process.
4. Once approval is granted, the couple and their witnesses are required to fill out some forms provided by the assembly after paying the appropriate fees.
5. The couple is then given a waiting period of 28 days to allow for any objections or challenges to the marriage to be raised.
6. After the 28-day waiting period, the couple can return to the Municipal Assembly to receive their Customary Marriage Certificate, provided no objections have been raised.
